Community Rules The following rules must be followed or it will result in you being dismissed from the game. 1. No Godmodding! We can not stress this enough. Do not have other characters that aren’t yours do things that their players would rather them not do without asking the player for permission first! 2. What is done or said In Character (IC) should stay IC. Out of Character should stay OOC! Do not confuse these two as it will create a lot of unnecessary drama and we do not allow that here. Also, do not bash your fellow players; respect them and how they play their character(s). If you have a problem with them, contact the mod(s) and we’ll take care of it! 3. All journal entries to the character's journals are to remain in FIRST PERSON and should not be locked. Meanwhile, all logs/threads are to be posted to 4. The journals are small, black books that, in theory, are a way of keeping track of people during and after school. This means anyone can speak to anyone if they can see the entry. All public entries (i.e. ones that have not been hexed otherwise) are viewable to anyone. Entries can be hexed private in the following ways. They can be hexed to a particular group (Death Eaters, Order, Family, Myself) or to individual people (Frank, Lily & Emmeline, etc). The same goes for owls. Be specific with who is able to see it to avoid confusion. 5. When making journal entries or replying to comments, please do not use actions, ie. ( *kicks Harry*) and smiles ( :D , :p, etc.). 6. Strike-outs are to be treated as if they have really been struck out. This means that, unless otherwise noted, your character will not be able to read it. 7. You must be active. A journal entry and a thread are required at least once every two weeks. We understand that real life happens, so after the first time, we'll simply issue a warning and ask for an explanation. However, if it becomes habit, it will result it a dismissal from the game. 8. All major plots should be approved by the mod(s) before starting and posting about them. All others that are minor in the grand scheme of things should be posted in the OOC and discussed with those players who will be taking part in them. Please do not create plots that will conflict with the plots the mod(s) have already planned. 9. Please try and keep the character(s) you play as close to canon as possible. Do not, however, make them so ooc that we and everyone else will want to stab our eyes out. It's true that there isn't much known about all these characters and so you're given free license to make them how you think they should be, but remember the clues and tidbits of information J.K. Rowling has already given us. Take that bit of information and expand it. Players who have characters that have none or very little background have the freedom to make their characters the way they want, but please do not make them Mary Sues or Gary Sues – everyone has faults, even in the rpg world! 10. Speaking of keeping characters as close to canon - please give your character a realistic job and a realistic income. Not all characters have enough money to go out and buy the newest broom or the best set of robes, and not all characters can be Aurors or Healers. After all, variety is the spice of life. 11. All actions will have consequences. If your character gets pregnant, she will be pregnant for the next nine months. We won't allow miscarriages and terminations all over the place just for the sake of it. Be true to life. If someone gets hurt, please act accordingly in healing or dealing with it. If someone close dies, grieve realistically. We don't want wangst. 12. Muggle-borns and Purebloods. We understand that pureblood characters will not have the luxury of using the same Muggle things as some other characters, but remember that pureblood seems to have air of aristocracy and whatever muggle things they do have and/or understand should reflect that accordingly. 13. When choosing a PB for your character, keep it realistic. The mods reserve the right to ask any applicant to change their PB to one we feel is more appropriate for the character. If you need help, feel free to ask us and we'll be more than willing to suggest several alternatives. 15. The game is set in Britain in 1979 and nearly all characters are British and so, they speak/type Britishism. That means that they like S's instead of Z's. For example: realize = realise Please keep this and the time period in mind when you're playing. Additionally, please remember that this is 1979. None of the characters know what a cell phone is and no one has ever heard of the spice girls. If you want to know what was happening in 1979, ask the mods and we can supply you with links to fashion, music, technology, cars, news headlines, and much more! |
